what would be a better set up for my 50g

150w 14k viper clamp on, 2x96w PC fixture one 10k and one actinc

or a 250w 20k aquamedic MH

OR a 250w 10k aquamendic and a single 96w actinic or a t5 actinic

i want to keep easier sps, some lps and softies

i would go with a 250w 10k aquamendic and a t5 actinic bulb... and set up a nice lighting schedule...use the actinics to warm up before blasting the MH...

would 1 t5 actinic be enough to give me good blue color, or would i be better going with two?

would a 96w actinic PC light be better then a t5 39w actinic?

now should i get two single strip actinics and place one in front of the MH and one behind it.

or save some money and get a two bulb fixture and put two actinics in there

or would one t5 actinic be enough to get a good blue

Depending on the watt i think one actinic will not be enought to have the nice blue effect go with two. And plus most t5 fixtures come with 2 florecent bulbs anyways so that knocks off one problem

Are you building a custom canopy, or will you be sitting all these fixtures on your tank? Do you really want your tank to look blue?

definitely not using a canopy, i will be hanging the aquamedic MH but still have about 8" of top of the tank space to work with

should i go with two 1 bulb fixture and have one in front of the MH and one behind it. or just one fixture with two bulbs?

If you're going with the two bulbs, I'd sandwich the mh. Just my taste thou. I don't like a blue tank, so I have - super actinic in the front, mh, white actinic in the back within the same hood. Actinics are first on, and last off.
