this question has been in my mind for quite some time now and maybe this is the best place to put it, so im just gonna throw it out there.

most of us here keep corals and as we all know, they require different types of elements [mg, ca, hco3, so4, etc] to sustain their being. now with more corals in our tanks, more elements are dumped into our tanks.

i have 2 reef tanks in my room and since its winter the windows are closed
is there some type of health issue involved with evaporation of our tanks?
i know for a fact that corals do not absorb all the elements we put in, and with such high intensity of light that they require, alot of evaporation does occur.

When water evaporates >99 % of elements are left behind and are not park of the water vapor. If you take a glass of water and add slat to it and heat it till there is no water left the bottom will still have >99 % of all the salt you put in.

The biggest winter issue is high CO2 lowering the pH for many.
