I recently noticed a hitchhicker in my tank.
I was wondering if anyone can help me ID it and at least tell me if it's a good guy or I need to get rid of it.

I'll try to describe the best I can.
First of all, it's about the size of a golf ball which is my first worry.
It's got a conical shell with the end coming to a tip.
The shell color id mostly brown with light highlites.
The shell also has very pretty stripes all around it.
The bottom of the snail is a light cream color and it moves along very quick.
It's always on the move ond visable on the glass when the lights are out but when the lights are on it's in hideing and I've even seen it burrow into the DSB.

That's about all the info I can give for now.
Let me know, should I get it out ir is it safe?

Thanks for all your help

It is nearly impossible to ID a snail from a general description. There are just too many that are too similar. However, I can tell you that if the snail sniffs the water with a small syphon looking tube, it is most likely predatory and you should probably remove it.

If you are not sure of what you have, there is always a (an?) LFS that you can give away to! Better to be safe than sorry.

You must be a French! I have refrained myself from making comments like that! (I am a Chinese decendent....Go figure!)
